Professionalism in the Healthcare Workplace
Personal Brand Short Paper
For this artifact, I completed a personal brand paper based on the MBTI assessment, Tom Peters’ “The Brand Called You,” and personal reflection activities. The purpose of the assignment was to identify the qualities, strengths, and values that shape how I present myself professionally and how I contribute to teams, organizations, and the people I serve.
In this paper, I reflected on my personal brand as someone who is thoughtful, idealistic, empathetic, and intentional in communication. I described how I want to be known as a person who helps others recognize their own potential and feel supported in their personal and professional growth. One of the most meaningful examples I included was my experience as a biology academic mentor, where I created a supportive learning environment, remembered students’ names and personal details, and encouraged students who doubted their abilities.

What I learned
This artifact is meaningful because it helped me better understand the kind of professional I want to become. Rather than describing my brand only through general traits, I used specific examples from my mentoring experience to show how my values appear in action. I learned that my strongest professional qualities are not only my ability to communicate, but also my ability to listen carefully, encourage others, and recognize potential in people before they fully see it in themselves.
The paper also helped me connect my personal characteristics to my long-term career goals in healthcare. In clinical research, healthcare administration, and leadership, technical skills are important, but so are trust, empathy, and clear communication. This artifact showed me that my personal brand is centered on using communication and leadership to help people feel understood, capable, and supported.
