Volunteer Experience
At Gennesaret Free Clinics, I volunteer as a Medical Interpreter and Receptionist, supporting clinic operations for underserved patients in the Indianapolis community. This experience has allowed me to contribute to a mission-driven healthcare environment while learning more about access to care, patient navigation, and the importance of clear communication in community health settings.
Volunteering at Gennesaret Free Clinics included:
-
Providing Spanish-English interpretation to help patients communicate clearly with healthcare providers.
-
Assisting with patient intake, appointment flow, and front-desk clinic responsibilities.
-
Supporting patients as they navigated clinic processes, paperwork, and care-related questions.
-
Maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and compassion when working with vulnerable populations.
-
Strengthening my understanding of how free clinics help reduce barriers to healthcare access.
Through this role, I developed stronger communication, empathy, adaptability, and cultural humility. It also reinforced my interest in healthcare leadership by showing me how operational processes, language access, and patient-centered systems directly affect care quality.
